Committee: Technology
Title: WordPress Manager + Marketing Liaison

Number of openings: 1
Location: EMEA or U.S.
Description:
The Technology Committee of Women in Localization is looking for volunteers who are interested in the technical aspects of managing a big global volunteer organization, are enthusiastic about women issues and contributing to localization industry, and would love to become a part of a big family of women across the world.

This is a volunteer position for a minimum 1 year commitment for approx.10 hrs/month. Overall duties of technology committee members:

  • Assist with development of a technology strategy for WL online platforms
  • Review current technology, operations and risks
  • Identify Technology opportunities
  • Oversee operational technology risks
  • Support the US-based and international chapters from technology point of view
  • Maintain policies and procedures of WL technology strategy

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Own our web platform WordPress (infrastructure, not content)
  • Build membership sign-on page and process for membership sign-up.
  • Create an area with gated content accessible only to members.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Marketing team regarding website infrastructure
  • Prerequisites: Knowledge of website infrastructure, ability to coordinate technology with marketing strategy

The ideal candidate needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Expertise in technology and desire to learn more
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in creating processes and procedures
  • Experience in database management and/or web development (desired)
  • Some experience in evaluating technology opportunities
  • Some experience in the implementation and support of virtual platforms
  • Knowledgeable in technology and desire to learn more
  • Desire to grow, work with women across the globe and be exposed to new situations and mentorship opportunities
  • Preferred background: Software localization engineering and/or computer science; database administration and/or security networks; web development

Committee: Partnership and Global Events

Title: Program Director, Event Initiatives

Number of openings: 1
Location:  US
Description:
Drive all logistics and overall coordination to represent Women in Localization with major partner events globally.  This is a volunteer position for a minimum 1-year commitment for approximately 10 hrs./month.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate internally with multiple WL programs in order to ensure alignment on requirements for participation and representation
  • Work closely with Partnership Program Director on all aspects of engagement with partners
  • Maintain policies and procedures for Global Events, establish the strategy and tactical approach
  • Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to drive successful WL representation in all key regions where partners are present.

The ideal candidate needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Expertise in event coordination for non-profits a plus
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in creating processes and procedures

 

Committee: Operations
Title: Operations Manager

Number of openings: 1
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Description:
Support and collaborate with all Women in Localization program directors, reporting to the Director of Operations.  Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • Organize and manage the Program Directors monthly call
  • Prepare and run the Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Manage, support and attend bi-yearly strategic Board offsite
  • Update Operation documents on a consistent cadence
  • Assist in keeping Google Drive folder for the Operations committee updated and organized
  • Prepare meeting notes and track any action items from monthly calls and QBRs
  • Help with any special projects

Background information:
The Operations Committee is unique in that it works directly with the board and all of the program directors. This position requires a volunteer with strong program management and excellent communication skills, plus someone who willing to make good deal of commitment.  This role requires @ 2-3 hours a week.

We would love to have someone who brings fresh ideas and even expands the role.  It is a fantastic opportunity to work with some amazing ladies!

Committee: Sponsorship

Title: Account Manager

Number of openings: 2

Location: U. S. preferred, but negotiable

Description:

Women in Localization is looking for two volunteers who will provide support for our sponsors as Account Managers. No previous experience needed.  We will provide on the job training, but experience working with strategic accounts in localization or tech is a plus. We are seeking friendly, professional people who will enjoy interacting with sponsors.  This is a great opportunity to learn, network and acquire new skills.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Work with program staff to ensure on-time submission of sponsorship packages
  • Manage a defined portfolio of existing sponsors as well as prospects to ensure proper cultivation, maintenance, and solicitation
  • Coordinate with sponsorship, marketing and technology teams within W.L. and our sponsors to ensure that fund processing, sponsorship acknowledgments, and PR content is completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Handle sponsor complaints, convey appropriate solutions and alternatives provided by the team within the time limits; follow up to ensure resolution
  • Additional activities to support the sponsorship program as we grow.

The ideal candidate needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent organization skills
  • Solid written and verbal skills
  • Manage multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Meet deadlines
  • Manage and updates databases
  • Coordinate and manage information
  • We would particularly welcome someone with Mailchimp experience.

Commitment:

  • Available to join our bi-weekly calls (1 hour)
  • Average 1-2 hours per week commitment
  • At least 1-year term, more if desired (starting ASAP)
