WLCH: Localization meets Accessibility

We are pleased to announce our next event: “Localization Meets Accessibility”, taking place online on 26 March 2025 at 18:00 with Marija Milosevic and Verónica Morales Beltrán.
Marija Milosevic is a certified English-Serbian translator with extensive experience in translating for numerous companies and organisations. As a language specialist, her expertise are the fields of law and clinical trials. Despite living with a disability, she remains a dedicated and prolific translator. Marija utilizes speech recognition technology in her daily work, and her session will highlight its role in providing language services.
Her talk will be on the specific software and tools she regularly uses and the key topics will include the following:
– The impact of speech recognition on translation
– The complexities of translation and localisation tasks
– The challenges she faces in her work
– Obstacles within the translation industry
– The importance of fostering an inclusive and diverse community of translators
Verónica Morales Beltrán is a digital accessibility consultant at adesso mobile solutions GmbH. She is based in Germany and advises companies and public institutions on compliance regarding accessibility requirements according to BITV, EN 301 549, WCAG and PDF/UA. As a consultant her focus lies on the testing of websites, apps and documents, development support, creating training content and giving presentations on accessibility and localization. Due to her professional background, she is particularly familiar with the challenges of the video games industry as she worked in the localization department at Electronic Arts Germany for 12 years.
