Unity in Diversity - slogan that India is known for across the world. India is the new frontier where localization will dominate India’s digital revolution. But all this has not come easy for India, a country which is known for its multilingualism and early adoption of English as an official language. Through this event we will learn about the common misconceptions, challenges and opportunities and why traditional localization does not work in India. We will also listen to the experts talk about how the government along with representation from the Translation and Localization Industry is building the required infrastructure to boost localization and give it the required attention.

The event will be a panel discussion with Rebecca Ray - CSA, Lamiya Manghnani - Localisation Head at VMC and Sandeep Nulkar - Founder BITS Private Limited, FICCI Co-Chair

Speakers:

Sandeep Nulkar - Chairman Indic Internet & Language Technology Subcommittee, India

He is Founder of BITS Private Limited (www.bitsindia.co.in), the industry’s preferred Language Service Provider that offers an array of language services in all major foreign languages to over 1600 clients spread across 20 countries.

He is also Co-Chair of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for the National Task force on Multilingual Internet & Universal Acceptance. FICCI is the oldest, largest and the apex business chamber in India.

Rebecca Ray, Senior Analyst, CSA Research

In her work as a senior analyst at CSA Research, Rebecca Ray’s primary focus is global digital transformation, enterprise globalization, localization maturity, social media, and global product development. Her other coverage areas include crowdsourcing, transcreation, and internationalization. Since the 1980s, Rebecca has focused on designing, testing, adapting, and marketing high-tech products outside of the United States. She managed worldwide product design, localization, and marketing for successful products sold internationally by IBM, Netscape Communications, Remedy Systems, Symantec, and Sun Microsystems. She graduated summa cum laude with a master’s in Latin American studies from Indiana University.

Lamiya Manghnani - Localisation Head at VMC, Ambassador India at LocLunch™

She has 20+ years of experience in localization industry and have explored how global brands and its digital assets would differ if localized as per the native audiences in India. She will share insights of her challenging journey to understand how adaptations change the tide for local audiences.
