Mental Health & Wellness Manifesto

The conversation around workplace culture, mental health, and well-being has shifted. What was once seen as a “nice to have” is now recognized as a priority for every organization and individual.

At Women in Localization (W.L.), our mission has always been to support the advancement of women and the localization industry. The Mental Health & Wellness (MH&W) program extends this mission into one of the most important areas of life: our inner balance, our resilience, and our capacity to thrive both as professionals and as human beings.

Who are we?

We are a global community of women and allies in the localization industry, united by shared values, shared experiences, and shared challenges. We are professionals, volunteers, mentors, and friends — creating a space where conversations about mental health and wellness are not only possible but also encouraged and supported.

How was this program created?

This is a global initiative that began in 2024 with the vision of Dr. Nadja Ruhl (Rotterdam, Netherlands, W.L. Global Community Program Director). Her idea was immediately supported by Madhu Sundaramurthy (W.L. Global Community Board Sponsor, Bengaluru, India) and Ludmila Golovine (W.L. Global Community Initiatives Manager, Houston, United States).

From the very beginning, the initiative resonated across continents. Program Directors, Geo Managers, and dozens of women volunteers around the world stepped forward to contribute their time and resources, becoming wellness ambassadors and spreading the word about the program in local chapters and among their networks of friends.

Why are we doing this?

Because we cannot give what we do not have.

Our goal is ambitious: not just to host sessions with experts that focus on physical and mental strengthening, but also to help our community build a lasting habit of self-care. The foundational principle that guides our work is: be kind, not nice.

We meet weekly, share tools and strategies, learn from experts, and support one another in making wellness a natural part of our lives.

In 2025, we officially launched our Friday Wellness Sessions – a weekly tradition where members dedicate time to themselves. Every Friday until May 2026, the W.L. community gathers online (or uses pre-recorded content offline) to explore topics ranging from managing stress and burnout to building resilience, setting boundaries, and cultivating joy.

Already in 2025, we have hosted inspiring sessions on:

This regular schedule is more than a calendar of events – it’s the heartbeat of our commitment to making wellness a shared habit.

Who do we want to collaborate with?

We welcome partners, friends, and collaborators who share our mission and values:

This program is open to everyone who resonates with our mission.
Together, we are creating a culture where wellness is not a luxury – it’s the foundation for everything we do.
