Women in Localization Launches the Catalonia Chapter

Barcelona, Spain – July 2, 2015 – Women in Localization (WL), the leading professional organization for women in the localization industry, is pleased to announce the launch of the Catalan Chapter (WL CAT).

The Spanish region of Catalonia houses a number of multinational companies and recently has been attracting more of high-technology and software companies such as King, eDreams/Odiego, Booking.com, Vistaprint, and Computer Associates. It has become an economic powerhouse, experiencing growth in the localization industry as well. More than 40 translation and localization companies are located in the region.

“The mission of Women in Localization is to create an open, collaborative forum where women can network, share expertise and experience, and help each other move forward in their careers. We are very excited that this mission is being taken up by women all around the world, and the Catalan chapter is becoming the newest member of our global WL family,” states Eva Klaudinyova, a co-founder of Women in Localization and Executive Board member in charge of chapter management and international expansion.

Maria Kania-Tasak, the Manager of the Women in Localization CAT Chapter, goes on to state: “When I first joined the global organization of Women in Localization and saw that they were networking, supporting each other and hosting thought-provoking professional events in California, I felt that our Catalan region could definitely use something similar! For our first year, we are planning events such as career development in localization, Machine Translation, games localization, and so much more.”

The inaugural event of the Women in Localization Catalan Chapter will be held in Barcelona on July 16th, 2015. This networking event, planned with the help of assistant chapter managers Muntsa Cuchi-Robinson and Veronica Cairioni, will give all members a chance to meet, network and find out more about the mission of Women in Localization and the plans for the Catalan chapter.
