“As Manager of the first W.L. Chapter in Brazil, I’m excited to lead our efforts in building a strong local community and supporting the localization industry in our country. With a team of eight enthusiastic women, we are eager to empower others through events, training, and experiences that can help them succeed in this field. Brazil’s localization community is already thriving, and we are here to contribute to its growth, diversity, and innovation,” said Chapter Manager Andrea Gonçalves Pinto.

“We are excited to launch our second Chapter in South America,” said Women in Localization 2024 President Anna N. Schlegel. “This new Chapter will offer new networking, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to women and the entire localization community in Brazil.”

The chapter’s inaugural events will be held in person on April 25 in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The events will introduce the organization and its mission, the Brazil leadership team, and will feature a panel discussion on how W.L. is relevant to localization professionals in Brazil.

Those interested in attending one of the inaugural events are encouraged to register to become a member of Women in Localization and sign up on Eventbrite for one of the events (São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro). The Brazil Chapter can be found on LinkedIn and Instagram.

“Recognizing Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo as key hubs in the Brazilian localization industry, we’re launching our Chapter with a dual-event strategy. This approach reflects our commitment to inclusivity, with plans to extend our reach through future online events, engaging language professionals nationwide,” said Chapter Manager Andrea Gonçalves Pinto.

“We are grateful for the hard work of Program Director Jennifer Vela, Board Sponsor for Chapters María Jesús de Arriba Díaz, and the Americas Geo Managers to launch this Chapter and respond to the great demand from Latin America,” said Schlegel. “This year will be a big year for Women in Localization, and we are proud to be able to provide opportunities to localization professionals in Brazil.”
