Women in Localization Announces New United States Chapter in New York City

SUNNYVALE, California, USA, September 3, 2025. Women in Localization (W.L.), the leading professional organization for women in the localization industry is excited to announce the launch of a new chapter in the United States. The New York chapter will be based in New York City and will be W.L.’s thirty-third (33rd) chapter.

Leading the New York Chapter is Chapter Manager Darya Chernina, Associate Director of Human-AI Learning Operations at Dataminr. She is joined by Marketing Manager Rita Carvalho, Senior Localization Project Manager at Vimeo, Events Manager Jennyfer Machuca, Language Specialist at USCIS, Membership Manager Cindy Rubiano-Gomez, Localization Producer at Magnit, Sponsorship Manager Megan Sharp, Head of Localization at Verizon, Social Media Manager Minxuan Sun, Staff Translator at Harvey Industries International Inc., and Mentorship and Education Manager Yifan Zhan, most recently Localization Project Manager at Teledoc Health.

“I’m deeply honored and excited to lead the efforts in bringing together, reenergizing, and supporting the strong localization community in the New York tri-state area,” says New York Chapter Manager Darya Chernina. “The chapter’s strong leadership team shares my passion for the localization industry and is eager to grow and strengthen our local community through themed events, mentorship, and training that will support their professional growth in the field.”

The chapter’s inaugural event will be held in person on Tuesday, October 7, at Tarallucci e vino, 873 Broadway in New York City. The event will be focused on networking and will introduce the organization and its goals, as well as the chapter’s leadership team.
