Women in Localization Global Community Unites Members

News

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, USA, June 30, 2020. Women in Localization (W.L.), the leading professional organization for women and the localization industry, is proud to announce the launch of the Global Community.

The Global Community will unite W.L. members around the globe together in one place, regardless of access to a local chapter. The community will provide virtual events and an online portal for access to exclusive content. Wherever they may live, W.L. members can be part of one extended community for support, networking and career development.

“For years we thought about all of our global members who didn’t have a local chapter and how we could serve them better,” said Silvia Avary-Silveira, co-founder of Women in Localization. “With the new Global Community, we have a place to bring all members together and offer events and content beyond local events. So, by better serving our global members, we will be better serving all of our members.”

The Global Community has become a reality thanks to the hard work of Kristin Gutierrez (Former Program Director), Chiara Fornasero (Silicon Valley Chapter Manager) and Ceci Maldonado (Vice President and Board Sponsor for Chapters & Global Growth). The Program will be led by Carrie Fischer as Program Director and Joanna Tarasiewicz as Manager. Carrie is the Manager of Globalization Services at Subway, Inc. and Joanna Tarasiewicz is Production Director at ATL.

The Global Community will launch with an exciting kick-off event on July 15, 2020 12PM – 1PM Pacific Standard Time. The event is graciously sponsored by RWS Moravia and Memsource. Professional coach and women’s leadership expert Laura Khalil will host a fireside chat titled “Empowering conversations with Laura Khalil on How Women Rise.”

Loy Searle, President of W.L. said, “I am thrilled to see the team launch the Global Community! We are looking forward to providing more programs and community for our members who don’t have a local chapter and sharing these opportunities with all of our members. Congrats to the small but mighty team who is launching this new program!”
