SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA – October 19, 2020, Women in Localization (W.L.), the leading professional organization for women in the localization industry, is excited to announce that Lilt, the world’s leading AI-powered language services provider, has become its Diamond sponsor. This is Lilt’s first year as a sponsor of W.L. and is an important step towards advancing the company’s mission of making the world’s information accessible to everyone regardless of where they were born or which language they speak.

“Women in Localization introduced a top-tier, exclusive Diamond-level Sponsorship in 2020 in response to the enthusiastic feedback we received from the market,” said Allison McDougall, Women in Localization Board Sponsor, Sponsorship. “It is incredibly rewarding that Lilt chose to capitalize on this opportunity, appreciating the ongoing, unique challenges that women continue to face in the globalization industry. Lilt’s strategic investment in Women in Localization’s ambitious mission will allow us to continue to reach and educate even more women across the globe, provide relevant professional development opportunities and mentorship, and lobby for equitable treatment.”

This partnership between Lilt and W.L. enables W.L. to expand its global impact and establish a foundation for continued growth. Today, Women in Localization is a community of 25 chapters in 15 unique countries. Within the past year, six new local chapters have been created.

“Since its inception, W.L. has provided access to opportunities and learning, but, as importantly, it has become a vibrant forum that fosters a dynamic exchange, centered on the unique challenges women face. We are honored to support these efforts and hope to help continue the W.L. mission,” said Paula Shannon, Lilt’s Chief Evangelist.

In addition to their sponsorship of Women in Localization, Lilt has partnered with linguistics and translation departments at universities around the world to provide free access for students and professors. Recently, they have also partnered with non-profit organizations to do pro-bono translations for COVID-19 related materials. Each of these initiatives help enable Lilt to achieve its mission while further supporting the localization industry.

Lilt will be hosting a networking coffee event for women in the localization industry during Lilt Ascend, its annual conference, on October 22nd.
