Women in Localization’s BookBuzz Events Aim to Educate and Enlighten

BlogPersonal & Professional Wisdom

Have you heard the buzz about Women in Localization’s BookBuzz?

BookBuzz is a series of educational events that delve into pressing topics within the localization industry. During these sessions, authors discuss their books with a W.L. host, along with other relevant subjects such as globalization, localization, user experience, and translation. In the future, BookBuzz will expand to cover topics beyond localization, including female leadership, effective stress management, and more.

Since its inception over a year ago, BookBuzz has featured eight localization authors who have shared insights from their books in illuminating one-hour conversations. With so many creative minds in the localization industry, it is no wonder that a localization BookBuzz series featuring industry authors was just waiting to emerge.

The idea for this industry book series originated from a discussion in March 2023 between two Women in Localization volunteers, Nadja Ruhl and Pooja Agrawal, who serve as Mentorship and Education managers for W.L.’s Netherland and India Chapters. The concept quickly gained support from Cristina Grigoroiu, the Mentorship and Education Manager for W.L.’s Romanian chapter.

All BookBuzz events are organized by Women in Localization’s Global Community and are free for members to attend.

“A key goal of BookBuzz is to enhance our audience’s knowledge and skills in research, sales, management, and other areas that contribute to their career advancement, networking, and personal growth,” explains BookBuzz host and W.L. Mentorship and Education Manager Nadja Ruhl. “Whenever possible, we provide participants with discounts on the featured book and encourage them to reach out to the authors directly with any follow-up questions.”

The BookBuzz team has lined up an inspiring array of authors for 2023 and 2024, including:

  • Author Sören Eberhardt talked with BookBuzz host Pooja Agrawal about “The Little Book of Localization,”  a concise guide that provides an introduction to the principles and practices of localization (watch the interview here).
