We are thrilled to announce that Women in Localization is participating in the 10th annual The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) conference in Boston (March 13-16, 2018).
Every year, GALA’s Language of Business conference provides localization professionals with an fantastic opportunity to discuss emerging trends, best practices, and challenges in the language industry. With its innovation-oriented focus, the conference is the right place to exchange strategic information on the translation and localization business in the high-tech, digital world.
The highly-qualified speakers and renowned exhibitors make this annual meeting a unique learning and networking event, which welcomes an international, wide-ranging audience from over 40 countries and a variety of companies, sectors and specialties.
It is therefore with great pleasure that Women in Localization will take part in this 10th GALA conference in Boston. W.L. has been partnering with GALA since 2015 in keeping with its ambition to foster professional development and networking in an open and collaborative framework.

“I’m pleased to have been invited to speak at GALA conference in Boston this year. It will be my first GALA conference ever, so I’m very curious about it. I’m looking forward to co-presenting about how the relationship between LSPs and buyers is continually changing. Don de Palma from Common Sense Advisory will lead the discussion, and I know he will keep us on our toes! We’re going to share our personal success and horror stories. I’m also keen on meeting the other members of Women Localization at our booth. I love the fact we can have this special Women in Localization connection at any global event in the world. I’m sure we can exchange some great ideas, and I can finally meet women who have been working in the organization on the Americas’ side.”
-Annette Lawlor, W.L. Member and Founder – Lion People Global
“I am so excited to attend and present for the first time at GALA 2018 in Boston, I have heard many great things about GALA conferences, in particular the feeling of openness and friendliness among the attendees. Together with Malon Hamoen-Giraldi (Ludejo) and Dave Ruane (Xplanation), we will run a 90 min workshop designed for people who would like some tools to help find their voice and perhaps even take the plunge and present publicly, but I was also delighted to learn that Women in Localization will have a booth at the event and I am looking forward to meeting and connecting with fellow W.L. members there.”
-Sonia Oliveira, Senior Director Globalization at GoPro – W.L. Board Member
